I am joined by relationship writer Julie Nguyen for a candid, open conversation about our Valentine’s Day. We talk about our past relationship history, how our view on romance affects our coaching practice, playing Cupid with our friends, healthy relationships, heartbreak, sexual chemistry, and so much more!
At the end, we answer letters from you, the audience. This month, we tackled readers’ questions about identifying with an anxious attachment style, what to do when an ex moves on too quickly, and why taking back a cheating ex isn’t a sign of disrespect.

No matter how loving and healthy a relationship is, there are moments when the partners indulge in battle for power and domination; it can be subtle and subconscious or it can be an out-and-out fight; whether the relationship survives or not depends on the emotional maturity of the involved parties. Maintaining a healthy power dynamic in a relationship is very important and not just for the longevity of the relationship but also for each partner to grow and thrive. You can be one half of a relationship but for the relationship to be an asset, it has to be good for your health and wellbeing and that's not a relationship where you have to fight for space and consideration.
In this episode, I talk to Dr. Kristie Overstreet about how, in a relationship, we can maintain the balance of power, constant reciprocity, and a safe space for open emotional expression. I will recommend this episode especially to women who constantly downplay themselves and their power to accommodate their partner's ego.
Dr. Kristie Overstreet is a clinical sexologist, psychotherapist, a TEDx speaker, author, and consultant. Dr. Kristie has published two books, Fix Yourself First: 25 Tips to Stop Ruining Your Relationships and Fix Yourself First: 4 weeks to Improve your relationship as a couple and has a Podcast by the same name. She is also launching a new course next week, Fix Yourself First: Better You for a Better Relationship.
We talk about-
What does a healthy relationship and a healthy partner look like
How women can dominant role in a relationship without hurting the health of their relationship or their partner's feelings
How it can be healthy for women to take the lead in the bedroom
Toxic masculinity and how it adversely effect a relationship and how we can help our partner overcome such challenges
Why women find it difficult to self-prioritise and how they can get past the fear
Critical Dos and Don'ts when communicating in a relationship
When does it make sense to approach a therapist or a coach
